Consulting
Assessment, Analysis, and Documentation
Midwest Trees provides independent, science‑based arboricultural consulting for property owners, municipalities, attorneys, insurers, and fellow tree professionals. This service is separate from routine tree work and plant health care, and is focused on assessment, analysis, documentation, and professional opinion.
My consulting work is grounded in current arboricultural research, industry standards, and on‑site observation. When appropriate, findings are documented in written reports suitable for decision‑making, risk management, or legal and insurance matters.
Consulting Services
Tree Inventory & Management Plans
Tree and woodland inventories to support planning, budgeting, and long-term management. Inventories may be used to develop management plans, prioritize work, or support municipal and organizational decision-making.
Tree Risk Assessment
Evaluation of individual trees or groups of trees to identify defects, assess likelihood of failure, and estimate potential consequences. Assessments are performed using industry‑accepted methodologies and may include written reports with recommendations.
Tree and Woodland Appraisal
Valuation of trees or wooded sites for damage, loss, or planning purposes. Appraisals may be completed using appropriate methods from the Guide for Plant Appraisal or other accepted approaches depending on the situation.
Tree Failure Investigation
Post‑failure inspections to determine probable causes of tree or limb failure. Useful for insurance claims, legal cases, and internal reviews following storm events or incidents.
Construction and Development
Pre‑construction tree evaluations, impact assessments, and recommendations to reduce damage to retained trees during development or site work.
Second Opinions and Independent Reviews
Objective evaluations of tree conditions, recommendations, or proposed work when an independent perspective is needed.
